Happy with this unit
Bought this for the RSSI meter and was surprised by how well the unit worked. The PVR is a little lethargic but it gets the job done. The remote is a bit cheezy but no problems as of now. It has some nice hidden features that i wasn't expecting based on what I read. The unit has a 5vdc output on an F-connector to power an antenna booster and the 2nd F-connector can be used to provide another raw output to a 2nd TV. So this unit will drive an antenna HDTV antenna booster and provide two antenna outputs for TV#1 and TV#2. Bought this for the RSSI meter and was surprised by how well the unit worked. Slow and Cranky while it boots, but good info once it does.
Cons: Every time I turn on the product I get a blank screen, and a "no signal" message displays - no audio, no video, just a blank screen. It requires resetting the display / monitor each time it is used. Also, slow to boot. Also, no batteries with the unit, had to buy separately. Pros: I like the display, much more information than our previous converter box used to give us, once it finally does boot up and display. Remote works well for now, we'll see how long that lasts... Stay Clear of This Ematic AT103C!!
Beware of this unit! It isn't the seller's fault but these units are really cheap and don't last for very long. I purchased 2 of them in June of 2022 and the first one quit on me in late August and the 2nd one just went out on me today Sept 6, 2022. I'm not happy at all because I used 1 for the kids room and 1 for the adults to watch/record different programs and now we can't watch anything. So heated! Before they quit working you they will get hot on top ( even with adequate ventilation ), will hear some unusual light buzzing sound or something that sounds like static from inside the unit and even if you attempt to disconnect, it may be too late and the unit will never light up or come on again unless you know a good electrician.Beware of this unit! It isn't the seller's fault but these units are really cheap and don't last for very long. Wouldn't Buy Again
This item has a VERY steep learning curve!! I finally got it to work, sort of, after hours and hours of frustration. The remote is terrible. Sometimes you press a button and nothing happens. Sometimes, you press a button and it does what it should do. But, the majority of times it's nothing. This new remote behaves like a remote that has seen a lot of use. The time shifting video recording is clunky and hard to use. It is cheaper than alot of other options. I guess you get what you pay for. Not a good DVR.
The recordings have sound and lip sync problems, the fast forward stutters, freezes, and jumps forward at a very uneven rate. Worse in backing up. The program guide shows only a few hours forward. Despite what the advertisement states, in my case, I could not watch a recorded program while it is recording another. The remote is so small, it is almost impossible to only hit one button at a time. When I hit the pause button, it usually knocks out my sound bar and I have to do a reset on it. The one good mark, the video quality is excellent. I have all but quit using it.
